| Radworks™ Single Media Archive Module v5.1® |
|
The Single Media Archive Module permits archiving of patient and study data on a single media type using devices that have Windows NT/2000™ drivers, such as CD-R's. The Single Media Archive Module is especially useful for smaller departments to share information, for creating teaching temporary archives, and for replacing costly media such as the 12" WORM (Write Once Read Many). Flexible Usability The Single Media Archive Module is the starting point for decreasing film consumption. Not only can it store DICOM images but, when it is combined with the Data Acquisition Module, images from non-DICOM sources, such as ultrasound, nuclear medicine, endoscopy, etc., can be stored. DICOM Part 10 Data to be archived is written in the DICOM 3.0 Part 10 format. This means that single archive media created by this module can be read by third party systems that are DICOM 3.0 (Part 10) compliant. When the module is installed, the user can also read third party media in this format. An advantage of the DICOM 3.0 Part 10 format is that the media created can easily be imported into other DICOM archiving solutions without having to convert the data itself.

Ease of Use Radworks Viewing Application modules share an easy-to-learn, intuitive user interface. Simple wizards guide you through the archiving process and make it simple to manage your data. Just click on the studies you want to archive, and the system will do the rest. CD-R Media as Standard For CD-R's, data to be archived can be put in a special 'archive buffer' until the media itself is written using the proper peripheral third party equipment. Verification tools and an Archive Index Tool are also available for tracking your media. Tracking Your Media The Archive Index Tool keeps a master volume and study index that allows powerful queries on the archive itself. A query for former patient data will typically result in the request : "take CD-ROM number 16 (the CD on which the requested data has been written) out of the cabinet and insert it into your CD-Rom reader", thus allowing for temporary, flexible, and cost-effective archiving. The Archive Index Tool also offers functionally to manage your archive media, such as telling you if the media referred to has been loaned out, damaged or lost when properly tracked in the system. External Copies The Single Media Archive Module provides an export option, allowing copies of patient studies to be written to external media in DICOM 3.0 (Part 10) format in cases when you wish to take or sent them physically to another system ('sneakernet'). Furthermore, the teleradiology module is built-in, thus allowing the sending of studies to other destinations if necessary. Options The Single Media Archive Module can function independently in a Gateway version or be combined with Standard, Review, or Diagnostic level software. It is suggested, however to utilize the single media archive module as a dedicated device.
